People continue to doubt that the medical community prefers to suppress natural means to good health, rather than educating the public with the TRUTH. This is one of the most common complaints about the Brewer Diet: certainly the good doctors and scientists would not cover up the truth about nutrition! Well there is plenty of evidence out there that they do EXACTLY that, on just about every medical condition under the sun, toxemia
of pregnancy included. Dr. Brewer experienced it firsthand in dealing with the drug companies in the 1960s. Medicine is big business. It’s all about the Bottom Line. And if you get better, they lose a customer.
Here is an interesting article that points the finger at the American Cancer Society, for suppressing the truth about natural approaches to curing and preventing cancer. It sure made me think, because I forget that this problem is so pervasive, and isn’t limited to the realm of pregnancy and childbirth. I hope it makes you think, too.

Did you know doctors are not required to take nutrition classes during medical school? It is an elective.

Thank you so much for all the information. I have a question though. You have diet sheets for vegetarians and vegans, but nowhere have I been able to find anything regarding the necessity of grains during pregnancy. You advocate 5 servings of grain per day. What exactly are grains providing that I cannot get from another source? I know processed grain products are folic acid fortified, but you’re advocating whole grains… I also know that some people cannot process grains, I happen to be one of them. So I’m wondering what is it that grains provide and what should replace those grains in the diet?
